Job Details

The microbiota is influenced by water chemistry, feed and the fish in the system, but their dynamic and function in the RAS are not fully understood. Bacterial cultures are very dynamic and will vary in different parts of the production system, they will affect the microbiota in the gut and skin of the salmon and potential susceptibility to disease. The project aims to increase understanding of the interaction between fish biology/physiology and microbiome function in RAS and contributes to optimized production and improved welfare of salmon in aquaculture. PhD position is funded by the Research Council project (# 331892) "Competence and education in land-based production of salmon in recycling facilities (CandRAS)."Applicants shall deliver a short project description (maximum 2 pages) related to the positions research area. The understanding of RAS and factors affecting microbiota and their interaction with Atlantic salmon, choice of methods and suggested experimental designs will be central for the evaluation.
