Research assistantship for graduate students
interested in aquaponics (simultaneous growth of fish and crop in recirculating
ecosystem). The students will be involved in collaborative research with
University of Arizona (Dr. Kevin Fitzsimmons) and Santa Fe Community College
(Charlie Shultz). We have 16 aquaponic systems in a greenhouse on NMSU campus.
Requirements
The graduate student will oversee a small army of undergraduate students to help out with experiments. It is expected that the new graduate student will develop their own research question (with guidance) and conduct their own research experiment(s) (with help from the undergraduate students). Various research laboratories on campus are available for sample analyzes. Travel to scientific meetings is encouraged and will be funded. Due to restrictions from the Funding Agency, US citizenship is a requirement!
