Job Details
Manage and maintain all ponds and facilities while ensuring bio-security. Maintain ponds at appropriate levels and quality for the purpose of growing healthy fish.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist with the operation and maintenance of the GloFish facility production ponds.
- Must understand and demonstrate safe work practices to ensure a safe work environment.
- Create and maintain a positive environment for all employees free of intimidation and harassment.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures.
- Contribute to the accomplishment of Key Performance Indicators including safety, quality, production, cost and development.
Fish Husbandry Duties
- Stock, maintain, and harvest 60 aquaculture ponds.
- Treat ponds regularly with herbicides and pesticides while wearing appropriate safety equipment.
- Evaluate fish behavior and report any inconsistencies.
- Evaluate ponds for oxygen and pH and ensure ponds are bio-secure. All lines and water lines should be evaluated regularly.
- Monitor fry ponds closely to evaluate growth.
- Maintain inventory and purchase feed and supplies within budget.
- Manage pond covering during winter season.
- Maintain equipment as needed.
Requirements
Education and Experience Profile
- Associate degree or equivalent experience preferred
- Minimum of 1 year fish husbandry experience
- Experience managing multiple fish lines preferred
- High degree of discretion dealing with confidential and proprietary information
