Applications are invited for a fixed-term, full-time Postdoctoral Research Officer (PDRO) in Functional Genomics, investigating the impact of photoperiod on immunity in salmon. Based in the School of Environmental and Natural Sciences, Bangor University, the successful applicant will join a thriving and diverse community of scholars undertaking world-leading research in molecular ecology and evolution.

Duties will include preparation of tissue samples for transcriptomic sequencing, analysis of transcriptomic (RNAseq) datasets, statistical modelling of aquaculture farm performance data, liaising with and visiting Scottish academic and industry project partners, and preparation of manuscripts for publication.

Requirements

Candidates should possess a PhD (or be near completion) in functional genomics, fish health, aquaculture sustainability, chronobiology, bioinformatics, or a related discipline, preferably with expertise in laboratory and computational analysis of gene expression and/or transcriptomes.

The successful candidate will be expected to commence on 1st  September 2024 or as soon as possible thereafter, and the post is available until 31st August 2026.

This role will be located on campus at Bangor. Through our Dynamic Working framework , there will also be the option to spend some time working remotely (although remaining in the UK) to support work life balance, which will be discussed further with candidates at interview.
