Background: AquaSteady is a pioneering research initiative backed by Phase II funding from the U.S.National Science Foundation Convergence Accelerator. AquaSteady introduces a revolutionary water-absorbent hydrogel derived from seaweed. This innovative solution aims to empower farmers by enhancing soil fertility and water retention, thereby safeguarding crops against drought, and providing a reduced need for irrigation. As a cross-disciplinary endeavor spanning multiple institutions, AquaSteady is at the forefront of sustainable agriculture research and development.
Duties: As a fellow, you will play a pivotal role in supporting and shaping the development of AquaSteady’s business strategy and market outreach efforts. Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Developing a comprehensive business plan to drive AquaSteady’s commercialization efforts.
- Conducting extensive customer discovery initiatives to understand market needs and refine product positioning.
20 hours per week until August 23, 2024, contingent on grant funding. The Summer Fellow position is contingent on budgetary approval and is 100% grant-funded.
Requirements
Education: MBA degree or equivalent, with a strong foundation in business principles and strategy.
Knowledge: Demonstrated knowledge of business development processes, including market analysis and financial modeling.
Preferred Qualifications: Ideal candidates will possess expertise or experience in the following areas:
- Regenerative agriculture practices and their implications for sustainable farming.
- Aquaculture industry dynamics and emerging trends.
- Familiarity with the seaweed market and its potential applications in various sectors.
Salary
Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications. The salary range for this position is $25-25/hour.
The position is eligible for remote work 3 days per week
