Key Responsibilities:Regulatory Support:
- Contribute to the development of regulatory applications (e.g., Fisheries Act, Transport Canada, Environment Canada, NIRB).
- Assist in identifying permitting requirements for marine projects and help assemble supporting documentation.
- Stay informed on relevant regulatory processes in BC and Nunavut.
- Draft permit application content, technical reports, and supporting documentation.
- Conduct project-specific desktop reviews and assist in developing existing conditions reports.
- Participate in QA/QC of internal documentation to ensure technical accuracy and project relevance.
- Coordinate tasks and track project deliverables in collaboration with project leads.
- Support field programs (preparation, data entry, logistics, and post-field wrap-up).
- Assist with data compilation and interpretation from remote sensing tools and field equipment.
- Work closely with senior staff to execute regulatory tasks and develop your technical skills.
- Contribute to internal knowledge sharing and team-based problem solving.
- Engage professionally with clients, regulators, and partners as needed.Required Experience & Skills.
Requirements
Required Experience & Skills:- 3-7 years of experience in marine science or environmental consulting with exposure to regulatory permitting.
- Working knowledge of federal and provincial/territorial environmental regulations (especially DFO, Environment Canada, Transport Canada).
- Clear, professional writing skills and an eye for detail.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and timelines.
- Curious mindset with the willingness to problem-solve and learn independently.
- Degree in marine biology, environmental science, or a related field; RPBio eligibility is an asset.
- ArcGIS & Statistical Analysis (R)
- Experience supporting Nunavut regulatory processes (e.g., NIRB applications).
- Field experience in marine or Arctic environments.
- Familiarity with environmental compliance programs (CEMPs, EnMCPs).
- Exposure to specialized marine equipment (e.g., ROVs, sonar systems).
- Experience in consulting, especially within small or growing teams.
