Job Details
The successful candidate will work on developing strategies to enhance the resilience of aquaculture species (e.g., salmonids, shrimps) by integrating genomics, epigenomics, microbiological, and nutraceutical approaches. The research will focus on understanding how nutraceuticals influence the interplay between aquaculture animals and their environment, aiming to improve robustness and disease resistance under changing climate conditions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct research on host-microbe-environment interactions in farmed salmonids and shrimps.
- Utilize genomics, epigenomics, and microbiology toolboxes to explore how nutraceuticals modulate host responses and microbial communities.
- Investigate environmental stress factors associated with climate change and their impact on aquatic species' resilience.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams from academia and the aquaculture industry and contribute to large-scale lab and on-field fish experimental trials.
- Optimization and development of molecular tools for salmonids and shrimps (e.g. cell culture, gene editing, ELISA, immunoblot)
- Publish findings in high-impact scientific journals and present results at conferences.
Requirements
Your profile
- You must have a PhD degree in aquaculture, aquatic microbiology, or molecular biology.
- Experience with host-microbe interactions, epigenetics, nutraceuticals, immunology or environmental stress research in aquatic organisms is highly desirable.
- Strong analytical skills, including experience with genomic, epigenetics, microbiology, immunology and bioinformatics tools.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary research environment.
- Excellent communication skills and a strong publication record.
- Hands-on experience in in vitro and in vivo (e.g. invertebrate) models.
