Job Details
To ensure operational integrity of aquaculture research and development facilities and aquatic animal life support systems by verifying equipment function and facilities checks; responding to and correcting equipment and systems failures; fabricating, installing, maintaining, and repairing aquaculture equipment and facilities; performing animal husbandry and related activities to ensure the health and welfare of aquatic organisms; and providing weekend, holiday, and emergency response coverage.Requirements
Required:
- High School diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) AND three years related experience in mechanical trades or aquaculture systems.
- Must be able spend workday on foot walking around campus.
- Must be able to climb stairs and platforms, and work in narrow spaces under sometimes-adverse environmental conditions.
- Must be able to frequently lift 30 lbs and occasionally lift or move 50 lbs.
Preferred:
- At least one year experience in marine trades.
- At least 3 years’ experience in mechanical trades, which could include plumbing, mechanical repair, HVAC, carpentry, or electrical.
- Basic working knowledge of aquaculture and/or fish husbandry.
- Experience performing similar duties at an aquaculture lease site or R&D facility is desirable.
- Demonstrated capacity to work alone and without direct on-site supervision.
