Experienced Shellfish / Hatchery Technician

Phillip Island, Victoria Australia Full Time

Job Details

Help us grow the future of aquaculture.

At SeaGen, we’re building better ways to produce marine seed — reliably, efficiently and at the scale our customers and partners need.

We believe healthy, productive oceans can provide sustainable food, support thriving marine ecosystems and create new opportunities for communities and industry.

Our Phillip Island facility supports shellfish farmers across Victoria and NSW, while also contributing to research and innovation across the Southern Ocean.

It’s a hands-on, growing business. We’re still building the systems, technology and team that will take SeaGen to the next level — and we’re looking for someone who wants to be part of that journey.

About the role

We’re looking for an experienced Shellfish / Hatchery Technician to join our Phillip Island team.

You’ll lead Sydney rock and Triploid Pacific oyster larval runs and support our nursery operations. You’ll also have opportunities to help expand production into other shellfish, marine invertebrates and seaweeds.

This is a role for someone who enjoys getting things done, solving problems and making things better.

You’ll need to be comfortable with:

  • Precision and consistency — every day
  • Hatchery and live-animal production
  • Troubleshooting and problem solving
  • Working independently and as part of a small team
  • Continuous improvement and new technology
  • The practical realities of working in a growing business

Requirements

Shellfish experience is highly valued, but it’s not the only thing we’re looking for. If you have strong transferable skills, technical capability and the motivation to learn, we’d love to hear from you.

Ready to introduce yourself?

We’d love to hear from you.

Please send your CV and a link to a short video (maximum 2 minutes) to: info@seagenaquaculture.com answering:

1. Why are you excited about shellfish and aquaculture?
2. What motivates you to apply for this role?
3. What skills and experience would you bring to SeaGen?

We’re more interested in who you are, what you can do and where you want to go than a perfectly polished application.
