Goatsbridge Trout Farm Ltd. Is based in Jerpointabbey, Thomastown, Co. Killkenny, Ireland and comprises of two farms and a factory growing Rainbow Trout from fingerling to market size.

The position (Aquaculture Technician) will be outdoors solely and would require a person that’s motivated, hardworking and has ability to work with a team to keep and maintain a high standard of fish welfare on all farms while producing a high end product for the Irish and European markets. This position and will require, own initiative to coordinate daily tasks and to work as a team player.

This is a Full time position.. Training can be supplied to the right candidate.

Salary based on dependant on experience and capabilities.

Job Description

• Day to Day husbandry of Rainbow Trout Oncorhynchus mykiss.
• Enforcement of high quality control processes through out all farm operations.
• Feed , Fish and Stock management
• Fish health management
• Record keeping
• Knowledge of fish farm machinery upkeep and operation.
• Site Maintenance and upkeep
• Maintenance skills in an outdoor setting
• Ability to understand English required for safety purposes.
• Communicate and Work as a Team Leader:
• Communicate with fellow employees to complete tasks and adhere to safety standards.
• Required for weekend cover on rotation basis amongst other colleagues
• Night and Alarm/out of hours cover on rotation between all staff.
• Miscellaneous Duties as assigned.

Requirements

Essential Skills

• Proven fish farm experience or maintenance experience is required
• Full Driving License is required - Trailer license is a plus not required
• Record keeping, organizational skills.
• Exemplary Attendance.
• Ability to work on own initiative and also as a team player.
• Ability to communicate both verbally and in written form.
• Ability to communicate in English in order to adhere to safety standards.
