Postdoc in ecosystem-based marine management

Uppsala, Uppsala County, Sweden Full Time

Job Details

This post doc position is at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU), Uppsala, Sweden. You will be part of a collaborative team at the Department of Aquatic Resources, investigating analytical and stakeholder-inclusive approaches for incorporating biodiversity considerations in marine management decisions, such as spatial planning, fisheries management and restoration. You will lead and contribute to scientific publications on this topic.

The research will build on results of existing projects investigating food web interactions, human pressures and ecosystem services in the Baltic Sea, including the Kattegat. The post doc will evaluate and advance the application of ecosystem-based approaches to coastal and marine management, including fisheries, offshore wind farms and/or conservation. The research will use case studies to examine complex ecosystem interactions and trade-offs between management objectives. The details and applications will be developed further by the post doc together with the mentors to take the successful candidate’s profile and expertise into consideration.

The position is linked to the EU projects MSP4MORE and MORSE, and to other ongoing projects at SLU Aqua on integrated ecosystem analyses and ecosystem-based management. The role involves a combination of analysis and dialogue with diverse stakeholder groups and is carried out in collaboration with researchers at SLU Aqua and other universities/institutes.
