Job Details

NSF is looking for a Technical Scheme Lead – Seafood Chain of Custody to join our Global Aquaculture team.

In this role, you’ll take technical ownership of recognised seafood Chain of Custody schemes, including MSC, ASC, MarinTrust, GLOBALG.A.P. and CSI, helping ensure they are applied consistently and credibly across global operations. You’ll sit at the heart of scheme governance, accreditation and technical decision‑making, while also maintaining full auditor competence and undertaking audit activity where required to support calibration and technical integrity.

Responsibilities

Including, but not limited to:
 

  • Technical ownership and oversight of assigned seafood Chain of Custody schemes
  • Ensuring certification activities meet scheme rules, accreditation requirements and NSF quality systems
  • Providing technical guidance to auditors, operations teams and key stakeholders
  • Carrying out technical reviews and supporting certification decisions where authorised
  • Maintaining auditor competence, including conducting audits where required
  • Supporting accreditation, witness audits and calibration activities
  • Monitoring scheme KPIs and supporting consistent global delivery
  • Representing NSF with clients, scheme owners and accreditation bodies
  • Occasional regional and international travel as required

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in food, fisheries, aquaculture, biology, supply chain management or a related discipline
  • Lead Auditor qualification (ISO 19011 or equivalent), with auditor qualifications in Chain of Custody standards
  • Seafood HACCP certification (or equivalent), where required by scheme scope
  • Relevant experience in Chain of Custody auditing and/or certification activities
  • Fully qualified and approved, or demonstrably eligible for approval, as an experienced Chain of Custody auditor for one or more recognised seafood schemes
  • Practical auditing experience covering traceability, segregation and identification, mass balance, subcontracted activities and multi‑site or group certification models
  • Strong understanding of accreditation requirements under ISO/IEC 17065 and scheme‑specific certification rules
  • High standards of technical report writing, documentation and evidence‑based, analytical decision‑making
  • Ability to balance scheme governance responsibilities with hands‑on auditing, bringing credibility when working with auditors, accreditation bodies, scheme owners and clients
  • Well organised and detail‑focused, with strong communication, coaching and stakeholder‑management skills, and a good level of spoken and written English
  • Experience within a Certification Body, familiarity with NSF systems and additional languages are advantageous but not essential
