Job Details

We are pleased to invite applications for the position of Senior Research Fellow / Research Fellow as part of a multidisciplinary research programme funded by the National Research Foundation (NRF) and the Singapore Food Agency (SFA), and administered by the Singapore-HUJ Alliance for Research and Enterprise (SHARE)

Key Responsibilities

•    Lead and supervise research projects in fish ”omics” analyses, behavioral analytics, stress resilience studies.
•    Plan and execute experiments; analyse and interpret research findings and large-scale biological data (e.g., genomic, transcriptomic, microbiome) and familiarity with following analyses – sc transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics.
•    Guide junior researchers and team members through training, and oversee the achievement of project KPIs and research deliverables.
•    Publish high-impact research articles aligned with project or grant objectives.
•    Coordinate and collaborate with external and local institutional partners to develop and execute project strategies. Expertise in microbiome research or in handling different types of omics data preferred.
•    Creative problem solving and critical thinking to explore and manage large datasets.
•    Perform bioinformatics analyses using appropriate tools and pipelines; develop and optimize workflows for omics data interpretation. 
•    Develop and maintain GitHub repositories and user-friendly scripts for data visualization by other researchers. 
•    Handle project documentation, progress reporting, budgeting, and procurement (including liaising with vendors and managing equipment and supplies).
•    Monitor project milestones and ensure timely execution of research activities.
•    Perform additional duties as required by the project leader or co-leads.

Requirements

  • ●    PhD (or Master’s with strong relevant experience) in Bioinformatics or a related discipline (Neurobiology, Computer Science, Statistics, Epidemiology, Systems Biology, Computational Biology).
    ●    Proven research track record with publications or preprints in relevant domains. Prior demonstrable experience in at least one or more of the following analyses – sc transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics. 
    ●    Strong bioinformatics background and / or familiar with software programming, data analysis and statistics. Demonstrable works, such as a GitHub Profile with history of project works, for example of previous publications where the candidate performed such work.
    ●    Generate user friendly scripts in R, and Python for data visualization and analysis that can be used by other team members. 
    ●    Creative problem solver with critical thinking skills and the ability to manage, explore and interpret complex biological datasets. Expertise in microbiome research or in handling different types of omics data preferred. 
    ●    Proficient in laboratory techniques, documentation, and research data management.
    ●    Proficient in other IT tools, including statistical software and bioinformatics platforms.
    ●    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a collaborative mindset.
    ●    Able to work independently, and also effectively with a team, and enjoys collaboration. 
    ●    Strong planning, organizational, and multitasking abilities; detail-oriented and responsible.
    ●    Willingness to be based at or rotate between partner institutions as needed.
    ●    Contract-based employment.
