Job Details
The Ecosystem Research Group Eußerthal Facility (EERES) at the Institute of Environmental Sciences addresses aquatic ecological research questions, focusing on the factors that most strongly influence biodiversity under the impacts of global change. EERES primarily concentrates on applied research projects that aim for sustainable and climate-adapted management to protect nature and biodiversity. In this context, we are seeking a research associate for the EU-INTERREG project "POLYRAS: Optimizing aquaculture production in RAS (Recirculated Aquaculture System) and reducing its ecological footprint through polyculture in the Greater Region." The successful candidate will be responsible for working with multi-species aquaculture systems, conducting both ecotoxicological investigations (water, biofilms, etc.) and stable isotope analyses (nitrogen dynamics).
Your responsibilities include:
- Conception, execution and scientific evaluation of the experiments at the Eußerthal research station
- Organization of project meetings and participation in national and international project meetings in Belgium, Luxembourg, etc.
- Presentation and publication of the results in the form of reports, conference papers and scientific publications
Requirements
Our requirements profile:
- Relevant, successfully completed academic university degree (Master's or equivalent, except for Bachelor's degree - ideally with a completed relevant doctorate) in the field of aquaculture, fisheries biology, agricultural sciences, environmental sciences or related qualified degree programs.
- Experience in the design and implementation of research projects
- Proven knowledge of recirculating systems, fish farming or fish keeping.
- Good communication skills, a high degree of teamwork, and high flexibility in terms of time.
- very good English skills, both spoken and written
