Job Details

In this position you will support finfish husbandry and live feed production, including broodstock care, juvenile and grow-out management that are essential to the success of Earth Sciences New Zealand’s Flagship science program in High Value Aquaculture.

The position is based at Earth Sciences New Zealand’s Northland Aquaculture Centre (NAC) in Ruakaka, northern New Zealand. The NAC is New Zealand's principal aquaculture research facility and aquaculture industrial park, comprising eight hectares of coastal land with infrastructure that supports a wide and growing range of research and commercial initiatives including our Kingfish hatchery and new commercial scale Land based RAS Kingfish facility.

This position sits within the NIWA business unit of Earth Sciences New Zealand.

Key Responsibilities Include

  • Monitor and maintain water quality parameters and system performance to ensure optimal conditions for fish husbandry activities, including Kingfish and other finfish, shellfish, and live feed production
  • Collect and process data from, laboratory experiments, equipment, or samples.
  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for all tasks.
