This study explores the understanding and perceptions of aquaculture practices among university students in Nepal. Through a qualitative approach, interviews were conducted with six students from different universities to gain insights into their knowledge, awareness, and attitudes towards aquaculture. The objective was to identify key themes related to the potential and challenges of aquaculture in Nepal. The study found that students generally recognized the importance of aquaculture for food security and economic development but lacked detailed knowledge about sustainable practices. The findings highlight a gap between theoretical knowledge and practical awareness, emphasizing the need for educational programs that bridge this divide. The conclusions suggest that enhancing student engagement in aquaculture through hands-on learning could significantly contribute to the sector’s growth. This study contributes to the discourse on sustainable aquaculture by providing a student perspective, which is crucial for shaping future educational initiatives and policy decisions in Nepal.
