Owing to their high nutritional value, zooplankton is prime candidate for aquaculture nutrition and can serve as efficaciously bioencapsulation vectors. In this context, the water flea Daphnia magna emerges, notable for its high protein content, fatty acids, chitin, and chitosan. The optimal food for zooplankton is microalgae, among which the microalga Haematococcus pluvialis stands out, known for its high concentrations of astaxanthin during the cystic phase. Thus, this study aimed to evaluate the influence of supplementing the diet of paciphic white shrimp Litopenaeus vannamei post-larvae with D. magna meal enriched with H. pluvialis (DHP) on shrimp growth performance compared to a commercial supplement (CS), followed by a control treatment with only commercial feed (C). Growth variables were assessed over 33 days culture in a synbiotic system in black polyethylene rectangular boxes (50L) with a working volume of 40 liters. SPF (shrimp pathogeny free) post-larvae (PL15) of L. vannamei with an average weight of 0.005 ± 0.001 g were acquired from commercial hatcheries and stocked at a density of 3000 shrimps m-3. Final biomass, final weight, biomass gain, specific growth rate (SGR), productivity and weight gain, with treatments CS and DHP exhibiting the highest values (p<0.05). Compared to treatment C, treatments CS and DHP achieved final biomass increases of 25.82% and 24.35%, respectively, and productivity increases of 25.98% and 24.41%, respectively (Table 1). Despite there being no statistical difference between the treatments regarding the survival variable, the DHP treatment displayed the highest values, averaging 98%. Based on the results, it was possible to conclude that a diet consisting of feed supplemented with D. magna meal enriched with H. pluvialis provided final weight, final biomass, weight gain, biomass gain, SGR, productivity, and FE of L. vannamei shrimp in the nursery phase similar to that found with the addition of existing commercial supplements on the market, demonstrating its potential use as a supplement for growth.
