The objective of this work was to establish the nitrogen, carbon and phosphorus budgets for the monoculture of Litopenaeus vannamei and its integration in polyculture with the oyster C. gigas and commercially relevant macroalga. The systems were compared to each other by quantifying the total nitrogen contents of the three nutrients in all ecological compartments of the earthen mariculture ponds. In addition, the project was carried out at a commercial aquaculture facility that produces aquatic organisms without artificial diet, but rather uses the nutrients already present in the ecological compartments of the mariculture ponds as a feed source.
