THE PRINCIPLES OF OXYGENATION IN AQUACULTURE TO MAXIMIZE SALMON HEALTH AND PERFORMANCE

David Ulloa Walker, PhD in Aquaculture

Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso.

The foundation of salmon health and performance lies in understanding the principles of water oxygenation and how oxygen is capture and metabolized by the salmon.  This seminar will discuss the application of Oxygenation (gas to liquid interface) to improve the dissolved oxygen, considering the environmental and biological demands of both cages and tanks (including RAS).  The seminar will also include, some studies related to determine SOTE (standard oxygen transfer efficiency) and size of the bubble from a hose diffuser and provide some practical solutions.
