This highlights the potential for genetic improvement through genomic selection. By evaluating two consecutive batches, we validated the impact of selection indexes in batch 48 on the performance of progeny in batch 49. The correlation between parental indexes for EHP and WFD resistance and offspring performance was evident. Importantly, genetic correlations between EHP and WFD resistance and shrimp weight were not unfavorable, suggesting that enhancing both resistance and growth can be simultaneously achieved without significant trade-offs.
