Further study is also required to understand the impact of COVID-19 on small-scale fishers, fish farms/hatcheries, fish markets and fish processing industries. The government should formulate comprehensive policies and schemes for fisheries sectors to overcome the pandemic situation. Aminimum compensation scheme may be introduced by the government to strengthen the livelihood of fishermen and related agencies may also extend support to the fisheries sector to tide them over during the pandemic.
